Richmond Hyundai The King's Family Tree

The King's Family Tree (and their wheels)

The King of Cars is descended from a long and noble line of popular English monarchs.

We’ve taken a look at some of His Majesty’s most famous ancestors – and their wheels.

We’ve also asked one of Richmond’s Part X valuation experts if the Kings' and Queens’ favoured mode of transport would qualify for a No Exceptions and No Exclusions GUARANTEED Part X payment of up to £5785.

KING ARTHUR

REIGNED:
Who Knows?

WHEELS: As a knight, Arthur would have been an expert horseman spending many years training for jousting tournaments and fighting battles.

Would he get a Guaranteed Part X payment?

Our Valuer says:
Yes, as long as the horse had not been injured at a joust or during general warfare.

BODECIA

REIGNED:
60 AD ish

WHEELS: Queen Bodecia gave the Romans a good pasting, leading her men into battle in a chariot with rotating blades on the axles.

Would she get a Guaranteed Part X payment?

Our Valuer says:
Yes but her chariot is unlikely to be offered for re sale due to the Government’s tightening of knife laws

KING ALFRED

King of Wessex:
871 – 899

WHEELS: Kings stayed at home and did the baking in those days so it was actually Alfred’s wife that drove the family vehicle. King Alfred’s only mode of transport was his sandals.

Would he get a Guaranteed Part X payment?

Our Valuer says:
Probably not on the sandals. But I’m sure we could find the king a cheap little runaround.

WILLAM THE CONQUERER

REIGNED:
1066 – 1087

WHEELS: Went everywhere by boat but being a Norman he would have probably gone for a Renault or a Citroen.

Would he get a Guaranteed Part X payment?

Our Valuer says:
Our Southampton branch is situated alongside a dock so we would be happy to look at Wiliam’s boat if he can bring it in.

HENRY VIII

REIGNED:
1491 – 1547

WHEELS: Carried everywhere on his bed because he was too fat to walk or even stand up.

Would he get a Guaranteed Part X payment?

Our Valuer says:
Probably not on the bed. But we could do him a good deal on a 7-seater, allowing plenty of room for the wives.

ELIZABETH 1

REIGNED:
1558 - 1603

WHEELS: Horse and carriage. Famous for sleeping in every bed in England so its obvious she liked to, er, travel.

Would she get a Guaranteed Part X payment?

Our Valuer says:
We’d be delighted to consider Her Majesty’s Royal Carriage, as long as the mileage isn’t too high.

QUEEN VICTORIA

REIGNED:
1819-1901

WHEELS: Steam trains and the Isle of Wight ferry.

Would she get a Guaranteed Part X payment?

Our Valuer says:
I suppose we’d look at a steam train – if she can get it to us.

WINSTON CHURCHILL

Prime Minister:
1940-45 &1951-55

WHEELS: Chauffeur driven in a 1940s Bentley due to the amount of Brandy he drank.

Would he get a Guaranteed Part X payment?

Our Valuer says:
Not really our market, but we’d obviously do something for Britain’s greatest wartime leader. But he’ll have to hurry because these GUARANTEED payments can’t last long.
